Fabricated from basic elements, these positive linear time poles reflect Ed Pogue's fascination with the past. Each work associated with metal and skull bones, lines and circles, viewed from all angles still pose questions and makes a statement.

I remember placing these works and feeling they needed space like a modern obelisk or time capsule. Ed Pogue's work still lingers in my mind, the message has been received.

Edward Pogue's primary concern in creating his small sculptures exhibited at the Motserrat was apparently structural illusion as it relates to the impression of line existing in space.

He intersects and counters vertical constructions with opposing directional elements enhanced with symbolic images. The works are uncomplicated but not simplistic; their themes are earnest as indicated by the titles: "Signal", "Icon With Frond", "Study With Steer Horn", and "Circle Items".

These convincing structures are an example of contemporary sculpture at its best. For instance, regarding their balance, whether it be symetrical or asymetrical, it holds one's attention, although it is handled differently in each instance.
